Central Florida HIV Planning Council’s First Open House

Come to Central Florida HIV Planning Council‘s first Open House! Everyone is welcome and a light lunch will be served. The event is at Heart of Florida United Way on Tuesday, January 15th, 2019 from 11am to 1pm. The Central Florida HIV Planning Council (CFHPC) is a community planning body. It’s responsible for HIV prevention and care for Central Florida’s 3.2 million residents. Many of the local AIDS Service Organization (ASOs) participate in CFHPC and so can you!

At the Central Florida HIV Planning Council’s first Open House you will learn:

  1. What is The Central Florida HIV Planning Council?
  2. What does the Planning Council do?
  3. How does the Planning Council impact our entire community?
  4. Why does the Planning Council matter?
  5. How can I get involved and help end HIV in Central Florida?

The CFHPC is also in charge of assessing the communities needs and allocating resources for Ryan White. Ryan White is a federally funded program that assist people living with HIV. Central Florida receives approximately 13 million dollars in Ryan White funding. It also developed and implements the 2017-2021 Integrated HIV Prevention and Care for the Orlando Service Area. This is the local component to the National HIV Strategy. It follows guidance set forth by Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

“This all sounds complicated. But its not. We are here to help – simply show up! The CFHPC and OIC are here to educate and empower everyone that wants to participate. Community members and experts teaching each other. We learn and grow together. Together we can end HIV.”

Community Engagement

So why is a doctors office discussing a community planning body? Community engagement. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical care and ending HIV. Thoughtful engagement with the entire community through CFHPC improves care for all of Central Florida’s residents. Its the only place where all of the ASO meet to coordinate services. They discuss HIV care, testing and prevention like PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis). Our Community Relations Manager, Sam Graper, serves as Chair of CFHPC. He’s been instrumental at improving care, increasing engagement, streamlining processes and advocating for patients. OIC is proud to be the first and only private practice that participates in the process and we hope you join us!
